I've owned the UT5 Ultra X for 2 months and have ridden over 1100km in that time. I have used it for my daily commute and leisure riding on a mixture of gravel trails and on-road riding. I have been thoroughly impressed by the performance, longevity and durability so far.
The scooter is very stable and comfortable to ride even at high speed, the traction control has saved me from a fall at least once on some wet crosswalk paint and the brakes are very powerful with no noticeable fade during regular use. I try to keep to mixed use trails for my commute but riding on the road is required for a portion of it and the speed and power of the scooter make this easy and stress free, being able to keep up with traffic on city level roads is a game changer. As unintuitive as it seems higher speed isn't always more dangerous, keeping the speed differential between myself and other traffic low makes me feel much more secure and comfortable riding in traffic. On that note, this scooter is large, heavy, extremely fast, and accelerates like a rocket, it is definitely NOT suitable for children or teens and requires wearing full riding gear including a full face helmet. Consider it a motorcycle.
While I'm sure the listed range is achievable at the tested speed, it isn't likely that anyone buying this machine will actually ride at 15km/h. On my morning commute, in 2 wheel drive sport mode, 90% gravel trail, 10% pavement, 190M elevation rise over 15km averaging 45km/h I'll use approximately 40-45% of the battery. My commute home is much more variable because of traffic on both the road and trails, but the lower overall speed and elevation drop means I usually get home with 70%+ battery remaining. On my longest range ride, in rear wheel drive sport mode, speed limited to 32km/h, I completed a round trip (same route both directions) of 47km with 7% battery remaining when I arrived home. In short, while your results may vary, expect about 30km riding it like it's stolen and 50km at more reasonable speeds.
As for durability, over 1100km I have had zero mechanical issues. I did loose the plastic trim panel on the tail at some point but that is purely cosmetic so it doesn't bother me, it would have been nice if it had been secured with screws instead of double sided tape. I did also break the plastic retaining clip on the on the folding stem lever but that was 100% my own fault as I accidentally hit the throttle as I was backing the scooter out of a bike rack causing it to slam forward into the rack. I remedied this with a large velcro strap that I feel is much more secure anyway.
Things that could be improved: I'd like the app to have an advanced mode that shows more detailed information like battery and motor temperature, battery voltage, estimated battery health etc. also more advanced riding stats that include Wh/km and map overlays to show speed or efficiency over the course of the ride. I also think the controls could be made more glove friendly, while I have gotten used to the controls for the most part, operating the indicators is often difficult without accidentally activating the headlight or hitting the drive mode button. Just a bit more spacing between buttons and raising the indicator buttons a bit more proud of the face would help a lot.
Finally, the reason for 4 stars instead of 5. Customer service left a lot to be desired during my purchase. From the time I placed the order to the day I received the scooter was 54 days despite the website showing the scooter as "in stock". In that time through numerous emails and phone calls I found it nearly impossible to gain any information about a delivery timeline. I also never received any information at all without reaching out myself, even when I was promised a call-back. In their defense, they did offer me an additional discount to make up for the inconvenience, but I honestly would have rather had the scooter a month earlier. I reached out to customer support today concerning ordering replacement tires and a 10A flash charger, so we will see how they handle this request before I write off customer support completely.
Overall I am extremely impressed, I would recommend the UT5 Ultra for any responsible adult looking for a powerful, comfortable mixed terrain scooter.... But maybe just order it from Amazon.
